Original Art Giveaway Update.

If you've read this previous post, you know I have an original art giveaway happening on my fb page, Rita Vindedzis Fine Art. The idea was for people to 'like' my page by April 30th to be eligible to win this original painting in my 'birds on a wire' series

After much consideration I have decided that 'Afternoon Tweet-Up' will not be the painting in this give away. As I've delivered new works in this series to my galleries it would be unfair to them if I offered one as a prize here. So out of respect I feel I must change the painting offered.

Instead I am offering this original watercolor painting I did a few years ago. It's matted and ready to be displayed as is, or will fit nicely into a standard 8"x10" frame. So if you haven't already, head over and 'like' Rita Vindedzis Fine Art on facebook and you will be entered to win. Thanks

And the Winner Is...

I put all the names that entered my giveaway draw onto pieces of paper. Chances of winning were great, due to the small number that actually left a comment. (Paula, I entered your name even though you asked me not to. :-) )

All the names were then folded and put into a bright orange bowl to be drawn. Very scientific, I know!

And this is the name that was drawn. Andrea please contact me with your address and I'll get your prize in the mail asap.

If You Get Something, Give Something.

This has been a crazy week as I've been trying to get it all done and have been feeling a little scatter brained. With all the painting I've got on the go, I felt the need to work on some mixed media on the side.

I came across a delightful new artist (well, new to me as she's quite well known) Tamara Laporte. When I heard she's offering a free e-course in mixed media, yes FREE. I thought how wonderful and signed up right away. I've never done an e-course so this will be a new experience for me. The fact that it's free is wonderful and if everyone that's signed up and will participate "pays it forward " in some way, now that would be awesome!

In fact, this has put me in such a positive spirit that I'm feeling the need to spread some love. It's been way too long since I've had a giveaway on my blog so stay tuned. There will be a giveaway next week!!!

willowing.ning.com

Check out Tam's site and if you're at all interested in having some mixed media fun sign up for the course. She must be up to 750 participants by now.

Just Another Day.

Just Another Day 20x24 Acrylic on canvas
Available at Arts on Queen
"Fresh" hangs until July 31st

It's just another day here in the studio. I think this is the week that all things will finally fall into place since our move almost one month ago. New furniture will be delivered and picked up today. They'll be assembled and installed, others will be switched and moved around. My paints and canvases will be moved and re organized once again. Only after everything is in it's place will I feel comfortable enough to really get serious about painting new work. Even though I haven't been painting, I've been thinking about it constantly. I think of the empty canvases waiting for me, and the paint that has to be re stocked, and about how it will feel to be working in the new space. I've got lots of ideas and sketches done in my head now I just have to get them down on paper and canvas.

I'm coming up to my 300 blog post soon. I think I'll celebrate by having a giveaway of some of my art. Join me won't you.

Its' Time to Rock My World.

Imagine my surprise a few weeks ago when I read this post on Kim's blog, Queen of Arts. I had entered a give away that Kim was having to celebrate her 300th post, and there was my name jumping off my computer screen.

My little package arrived yesterday in the post and it was opened right away. Imagine my surprise when I found not only the "Rock my World" rocks that I was expecting, but one of Kim's beautiful little charms and a hand made card as well. So nice!! Thank you so much Kim. The whole package was beautifully wrapped and very nice.

I immediately spread out the rocks so that I could inspect them more closely. The colors and sayings are great. The ones that really speak to me today are "trust yourself", "draw it to you" and of course "chocolate is your friend".

These little rocks will be put in a special little cloth bag I found just for this purpose, to keep in my purse and distribute as I see fit. I'll keep you posted with how these little messages are set free. Curious as to what Rock my World rocks are?? You can read about them here and here. You can purchase your own stash right here.

Happy weekend everyone!!

The Evergreen Fair and The Vintage Gardener

I was fortunate to have won a pair of tickets to the Evergreen Fair presented by the Vintage Gardener. Reading so many blogs does have it's advantages as I discovered this ticket give away while reading favourite things blog. I then headed over to the budding gardener blog and left my comment and the tickets were won. Yesterday my friend Gabreila and I went to check it out. The Distillery is the old Gooderham and Worts distillery in downtown Toronto. It's a pedstrian only village and has many galleries and reataurants and shops as well as artist run studios. The Evergreen Fair was in the fermenting cellar, a huge space that's all exposed brick. A beautiful space to hold an event like this. There were venders selling lush greenery all bundled and ready for seasonal decorating. The scent of fir and spruce and lavender filled the room. We watched a demo by Elaine of the Vintage Gardener, and her 2 helpers, her son and Tara Nolan who writes the budding gardener blog. All in all it was a beautiful way to spend the day.

Giveaway Goodies

I received my package today from Print Pattern Paper. What a treat!! A few weeks ago, Holly at Decor8 blog sponsored this giveaway and I won. Imagine out of 621 responses I was a lucky winner. I chose an apron, two lovely tea towels and a really fabulous market bag. Of course Iggy had to get right in and check it out immediately. This bag is now cat approved! Thanks so much Rebecca. Your products are wonderful and I really like the idea behind art and philanthropy.

A Holiday Giveaway for You!!

It's better to give than to receive, so this brings me to my third and final giveaway for the year. By leaving a comment on this post you have a chance to win "Snow Day". This original mixed media painting is part of the series now available in my Etsy shop and what better way to get some free word of mouth advertising than to have a giveaway. "Snow Day" is 6x6 on a masonite panel and is similar to "Winter Fun" which was featured in an Etsy Treasury by Mana Moon Studios last week. Thanks again Sharon that was very kind of you!! What better way to spend Black Friday than shopping for fabulous gifts online. No crowds, no shoving, no hassles. There are lots of specials and sales happening at Etsy, and I always feature free shipping to Canada and the U.S.

This little mixed media painting would retail for $50 and you can win it. You could keep it for yourself or wrap it up and give it away, it would make an excellent gift. So leave me a comment here. You'll have until midnight Saturday (est) to enter and I'll post the winner on Monday Dec. 1st. Tell your friends. Pass it on.

Link Love II

This little watercolor painting is part of my Holiday Collection-affordable, original, one of a kind artworks, matted and ready to frame or wrap. Great to give as a gift or give to yourself. See it and more here in my shop.

Happy Marvelous Monday!! Did you have a great weekend? Saturday was a marathon drive for us as we drove to Ottawa to pick up some of my work from a gallery there. It was about 4 1/2 hours driving each way. After collecting my work we met friends for a very quick lunch and then made our way back. The skies were gray with showers on and off, most of the leaves had already fallen, and we saw lots of Canada geese flying about. All in all a great day.

I want to start today's post by thanking Tammy." Thank you so much-you are so kind!!" Tammy had won my last giveaway and posted about it here. Check out her Etsy shop as she's got some very nice Christmas kits available now, along with all her other beautiful items. Through Tammy's blog, I came across Sharon's blog. Sharon and husband Damein of Mana Moon Studios create fantastic beaded and wired jewelery and some awsome chain maille!!! I also discovered Sherry's blog Esprit d'Art. Sherry, I was pleased to find out is a fellow Torontonian and mixed media artist. You can check out her shop here. I've come across so many wonderful artist bloggers that inspire me immensely. I cannot begin to name them all as I'd be here all day and I really have a long list of "to do's" today. To see some gorgeous photograhy and artwork check out Misty Mawn, Kelley Rae, Sophia Barao.

October Giveaway is Here!

Autumn Colors
Acrylic on Canvas
8'x10'

I'll have to put my mixed media work on hold for a short while. I spent yesterday painting small landscape paintings. I'm preparing a dozen or so of them for the annual "Festival of Smalls" which will be starting in November at Art Interiors. These are fun to do as it's always a nice change from the larger paintings. It's a totally different "feel", painting on such small canvases and I find myself handling the brushes and the paint in a slightly different manner. I'll post a sneak peek of a couple of them when I'm all finished.

Well it's here. My October Giveaway. This time I'm doing things a bit different. All you have to do is to leave a comment on any of my blog posts for 2 weeks. Starting today Oct.7th to midnight Tues. Oct. 21st. You can comment as many times as you like. The more you comment, the better your chances for winning. I'll post a picture of the prize a little later into the giveaway.
