Just Another Day.

Just Another Day 20x24 Acrylic on canvas
Available at Arts on Queen
"Fresh" hangs until July 31st

It's just another day here in the studio. I think this is the week that all things will finally fall into place since our move almost one month ago. New furniture will be delivered and picked up today. They'll be assembled and installed, others will be switched and moved around. My paints and canvases will be moved and re organized once again. Only after everything is in it's place will I feel comfortable enough to really get serious about painting new work. Even though I haven't been painting, I've been thinking about it constantly. I think of the empty canvases waiting for me, and the paint that has to be re stocked, and about how it will feel to be working in the new space. I've got lots of ideas and sketches done in my head now I just have to get them down on paper and canvas.

I'm coming up to my 300 blog post soon. I think I'll celebrate by having a giveaway of some of my art. Join me won't you.

Collage Fun

I listed this happy little gecko in my shop yesterday. It is pure collage and was pure fun to make. I cut the gecko out of watercolor paper that I painted, embellished him with gold foil diamonds, and glued him onto a background of oriental and painted watercolor paper. A few punched out dots and two pieces of gold thread complete his home. Click here to purchase. Collage has to be one of the easiest and most fun ways to make a piece of art, journal page, or gift card. It's really playing with papers. Cutting, arranging, gluing. It's something most of us did in preschool or we enjoy with our children today. Collage can be a very "green" activity as you can re-use papers from everywhere. This year I'm challenging myself to make all my Christmas gift tags "collaged" from re-used paper sources.

Not much else to say this morning except to remind all of you that commenting for my holiday giveaway ends this Saturday at midnight. Leave your comment on my post "A Holiday Giveaway for You" and you have a chance to win "Snow Day" one of my original mixed media paintings. I'll announce the winner on Monday December 1st. Hmmmmm, how fast is this year flying by??

Original Art Makes a Great Gift

It's been a busy couple of days here in my studio. The table is covered with paints, stamps, all kinds of hand made collage papers that I've made, stencils, and ephemera. The cats are going crazy with all the sounds of tearing paper. I've been creating new items for my Etsy shop.

With the Holiday season fast approaching, I'll be listing all sorts of affordable original artworks, perfect for gift giving. Here's a sneak peak. "Black Paisley" an original art card. A trendy black and white illustration on the front, it's acrylic on canvas. The inside is blank so that you can write your own message. It comes with a matching envelope, sealed in a clear bag.

I've also been creating ACEO's. ACEO stands for Art Cards Editions and Originals, and they're all the rage. There is only one rule to these miniature art pieces and that is they must measure 2.5 x 3.5 the size of a standard playing card. They will be in the shop soon. I'll be listing new items regularly so check back often!!!

And just a reminder, my October giveaway will be announced next Monday. I'll post a picture of the item that I'm featuring this month and by leaving me a comment, you'll be eligible for the draw.
