Square Foot Show 2011.

It's that time of year again. Time for the 9th Annual Square Foot show. The original Square Foot show presented by AWOL Gallery, Toronto. This year the collectors/press gala is Friday August 5. Doors open at 7 pm. at Twist Gallery, 1100 Queen Street West. and the show runs until August 21st. You can get complete details here.

Every painting in the show is 12x12 (hence the name) and a set price of $225. This is a great time to get original affordable art by some well known and emerging artists.

This year it's all about the landscape and I've submitted 3 of them. Here's a preview.

I took a walk along Queen Street West yesterday to deliver the paintings to Awol Gallery, and enjoyed taking my time walking back. Window shopping all the trendy shops, I stopped at the window display of Kol Kid  (trendy and cute things for kids) when I spotted these adorable critters.

Marisa's blog was one of my first "blog crushes" when I started blogging and I still read Creative Thursday regularly. It was a nice surprise to see her lovely work here in Toronto, especially as Marisa is way over on the west coast. Check out Marisa's blog here.

All you need is Love

This little bit of cuteness arrived in my mailbox today. Artist Marisa Haedike creates and paints the most adorable little characters. I found Marisa's blog Creative Thursday about two years ago and instantly fell in love with her whimsical illustrations and adorable gang of cuties. Marisa's blog is full of inspiration, daily paintings and podcasts. She left a 9 to 5 world to realize a dream and has become a thriving business. Her blog is where she shares her thoughts on understanding and appreciating the creative life. She's even self published her first children's book "Who are you going to be today Olive?". I was lucky enough to snap up this last "love" Valentine card from Creative Thursday's shop on Etsy. Marisa included one of her business cards along with a personal note to me. A nice touch. I'm going to frame it up in style and hang it in my studio. Thanks Marisa for the endless inspiration I get when visiting your blog.

Link Love

I meant to do a blog post yesterday, I really did but then the day just got away from me and it never happened. Usually I'm very organized and my Mondays start with a big cup of steaming hot coffee and a list of all that's to be accomplished that day and the rest of the week. Well it was about 3 in the afternoon before I got to make that list. I started yesterday with a few emails I had to write which I found rather frustrating because the words just wouldn't come. So I do what I usually do then-I take a break and check out some of my favorite blogs. I popped in to see what Veronica was up to and found her photo of a new painting. I hope you feel better Veronica!!. Then I checked out my two favorite design blogs decor8 and decor addict. Awsome as always.

Gabriela was next-she's always got something very interesting going on. She didn't disapoint! And then on to Marisa's blog. A very interesting post on a heated topic!! It was after I had finished reading Marisa's post and spent way too much time writing and leaving her a comment that I thought I should check on the time. Oooops, 11:30 already??!?? Time to get those emails written and sent.

I spent the rest of my day varnishing and wiring 20 smalls for Art Interiors, and wrapping six new paintings for XC Art Restoration that I'm delivering later today. Oh yes, and because my studio is in my home, I also managed to get in three loads of laundry, make dinner, feed the cats, blah, blah, blah.

The little Daisy piece above will be available in my shop later this week. I'll be listing lots of new work very soon. Please check back often.
