In2art Gallery

Tranquility 36x48 Acrylic on Canvas
Available at In2art

I'm happy to announce that my work is now carried by a new gallery in beautiful Oakville Ontario. In2art opened earlier this year by owners Kelly McDonagh and Susan Hoeltken, is situated in downtown Oakville at 136 Church St. in the "Valour House". In2art has an urban edge and a design forward approach to art. Clients are given the opportunity to take the art home on a trial basis as Kelly and Susan understand that the art needs to work within your home and budget. In2art is a relaxed gallery space where both experienced and new art collectors can discover great contemporary painting, photography, etching, and multimedia. You can view all the gallery artists here.

Two New Paintings at Art Interiors

Quiet View 12x36 Acrylic on Canvas

Panorama 12x36 Acrylic on Canvas

This morning started out rather dull with my usual catching up on emails and planning for the week. Nothing too exciting until this afternoon when I delivered two new landscapes to Art Interiors. There's always such a positive energy there and sometimes it's so crazy busy with clients that I have to wait. Today was just such a day and I did not mind waiting at all. I popped downstairs to the Starbucks and enjoyed my usual Americano. By the time I finished with my coffee all had quieted down upstairs and it was nice to catch Lisa and Shira together. We had a nice chat about our children and all things art. I received a nice ego boost when I heard that quite a few people have signed up for new artwork notifications on the Art Interiors website. Now when I bring new work into the gallery, all those people will be notified immediately. It makes all those days when I lock myself up in my studio and paint non stop worth it. Now I'm really very excited to get back into my studio and get started on even more new paintings. It's days like this that I just love being an artist.

On Approach at XC Art Restoration

I've titled this newest painting "On Approach". It's 24"h x 30"w. on stretched canvas. I've been doing skies for a while now but this one is a little different. Where I would normally put a strip of land with some trees or bushes, I've added a darkened skyline. Just a hint of rooftops and such, some with lights just turned on. Perhaps this is my way of easing into the urban thing. I'm very comfortable painting my landscapes and achieving that soft focus look that I like to my work. So I've started to add buildings and a human element to challenge myself. Living in such a large and diverse city as Toronto provides me with endless subject matter for new paintings. I've been doing sketches and studies and taking dozens of photographs. I'm really "looking" at buildings, angles, and hard edges in a different way and am enjoying combining these things with the softness that I have been painting.

This painting along with four other new works that I just finished will be available for purchase at XC Art Restoration. They are a great gallery here in Toronto and have carried my work for quite a few years now. Their specialty is conservation and restoration of fine art and art objects but they also feature the work of selected artists.
