Summer's End

Summer's End 36x48
Acrylic on canvas

So here we are just about at the end of summer. The long weekend before us, one last hurrah in the season. I was hoping to maybe get away this weekend and do something "vacationy" but there's too much to be done around here. I'll be working on a small commissioned painting similar to Summer's End. It's been awhile since I've painted grazing sheep so this will be a lot of fun. Whatever you have planned for your long weekend, I hope you enjoy. See you after Labour Day.

Farewell Summer

This is the last official weekend of the summer as we enter into autumn early next week. So I say goodbye to the summer of 2008. All too short, and oh so sweet. We are expecting wonderful summer like heat and humidity here on Saturday so it will indeed be a great opportunity to get out and enjoy summer one last time. This weekend I plan to

-do the usual trip to Costco and stock up for the week
-get fresh veggies from the market
-visit the new Bath and Body Works that just opened up in the mall
-vacuum
-laundry
-take the new large comforter that doesn't fit in our machine to the laundry mat
-take out air conditioners on Sunday
-reorganize closets once air conditioners are put away
-tidy up art supplies which are spilling onto the dining room table
-clean out the "everything" drawer in the kitchen
-finish the mixed media paintings that I've put off all week
-photograph new art for Etsy
-get flickr
-journal
-take a long walk
-spend time with my guys
-watch a movie
-enjoy a margarita out in the sunshine

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

A Beautiful Purchase.

It's been a busy week so far but not for making art. I've been taking care of a long list of things that have to be taken care of during this last official week of summer. As well, I've been helping one get ready to go back to school next week. So the art making has been put on hold for a short while. I'll be back at it 100% after this long weekend.

I did have a delightful surprise in the post today. A parcel from my virtual friend Supria had arrived. I was checking out her blog last week and noticed that she had listed more items in her Etsy shop. New limited edition print art greeting cards. I spotted "B Still" and I new I just had to get one for myself. The card is a beautiful print of her original mixed media encaustic piece and I have just the perfect frame and spot for it in my home. I'm hoping that I'll have a chance to get out to the Elora-Fergus Studio Tour this fall to finally meet my fellow blogging artist and see her beautiful encaustic paintings in person. Thank you Supria.

Tha above painting is "Mocha Latte" a 12 x12, acrylic on paper. Just a fun piece that I completed not too long ago.
